The Vancouver Youth Choir is Vancouver’s newest choral organization for children and youth. Founded in 2013 by award-winning Artistic Director Carrie Tennant, VYC provides a space for promising young singers to develop their artistry in a creative and supportive environment. In six years, the organization has grown from a single choir of 30 members to more than 200 members in four separate ensembles: the Vancouver Youth Choir for advanced singers aged 15-24, VYC Junior for grades 7-10, VYC Kids for grades 3-6, and VYC Tiny – a short-term choral opportunity each spring for singers in kindergarten-grade 2. Members represent over 13 municipalities in the lower mainland, including 43 different high schools, 32 elementary schools, and five different post-secondary institutions. VYC singers are passionate and joyful about their music-making, united by their love of the choral art form and their desire to contribute to their communities.
