is known as “the one-woman-show” to anyone who is familiar with her work in the Vancouver music scene. And this title is no hyperbole. Maze does not shy away from new challenges, which is precisely why she finds herself in demand not only as an entertainer, but also a producer, session musician, and music educator. Hailed as “versatile” and “prodigiously talented” by The Georgia Straight, Maze has earned her stripes in the industry by releasing new music for 4 consecutive years, showcasing at Canadian Music Week in both 2018 and 2019, playing 250+ gigs a year (pre-pandemic), and landing in the CBC Searchlight Top 10.
At the height of the COVID-19 Pandemic, Maze found herself in Malta, hot off the heels of a 5 week UK tour with Vancouver/London-based artist, Mauvey. As the future of live music grew less and less certain, Maze turned her attention towards live-streaming and music production. While under lockdown in the spring of 2020, Maze brought musicians and music lovers together with her weekly live-stream, Wish You Were Here, which featured songs and stories from artists like Jessia, Laura Reznek, Tissa Rahim, and Sade Awele, just to name a few.
Around that same time, Maze founded Maze Productions – a boutique production company with the objective of helping artists reach their maximum potential, both in the studio and on stage. Maze has a unique perspective on production, bringing to the table over a decade of experience as a full-time working musician, performer, songwriter and artist in her own right. Learning from local studio legends like Ryan Worsley, Elisa Pangsaeng and Paul Shatto, Maze found her entry point into production when she began self-producing her own music. Since then, she has steadily built a reputation founded on quality, creativity and reliability, and has produced tracks for D Fretter, Aridonis, Tara Lett, and Adam Bailie, among others.
Coming up in the industry as an independent artist allows Maze to keep in mind her artists’ point of view. Maze prioritizes the need to make artists feel comfortable in the studio, facilitating their best performances and instilling within them the confidence to fully realize their artistic excellence.
